Are you our next Senior Environmental Specialist?

We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist at our Bartow, Florida Location. This person will have senior level responsibilities for environmental compliance, permitting, education and stewardship for facilities. They will provide evaluation of plant operations with respect to existing and proposed environmental requirements and advises management on compliance and initiates and directs facility environmental improvements. Be the primary point of contact for the site operations team for air permitting activities. Conduct inspections with regulatory agents and prepares and submits regulatory reports and correspondence. Interprets regulatory language and determines applicability. Negotiate requirements with regulatory agencies. Respond to “on call” environmental issues.

What will you do?

  • Ensure compliance with all environmental requirements (statutes, regulations, permits, licenses, policies and procedures) through inspections, testing and evaluation of plant operations and develop and implement plans and procedures for use at multiple Mosaic locations

  • Analyze process and environmental data for compliance and trend evaluations and prepare reports for regulatory agencies, management, community groups and other stakeholders

  • Serve as “on-call” environmental coordinator, responding to a wide range of issues including spill reporting, waste management, wastewater, storm water, drinking water, air emissions and agency inspections

  • Coordinate all permit applications from identifying need for the permit through permit application, agency negotiations, and permit received

  • Monitor daily compliance with permit regulations (routine review of production and process data)

  • Stack Testing of Major Air Sources – ability to coordinate contract stack testing activities, review reports and submit to agency

  • Serve as an environmental reviewer for site level Management of Change Process

  • Assist facility with identification of environmental risk reduction opportunities

  • Prepare and deliver site level training presentations on air compliance obligations

  • Manage environmental aspects of projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and selecting contractors

  • Supervise/coach contractors and possible direct reports depending on work location

What do you need for this role?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science is required

  • 5+ years direct experience in environmental control/management or industrial manufacturing is required

  • Thorough knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, permitting and legal process involving regulatory rulemaking is a must

  • Prior experience required working on Title V operating permit compliance at a major source facility

  • Additional regulatory knowledge in:

  • Overarching understanding of Clean Air Act and supporting regulations

  • Understanding of relevant NESHAP’s

  • 40 CFR 63 Subparts AA and BB

  • 40 CFR 63 Subpart ZZZZ

  • Understanding of NAAQS (40 CFR Part 50)

  • Ability to develop and conduct environmental training for all employees

  • Proficient skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and operations database applications, presentations, drafting programs

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to read technical/ legal information and effectively communicate complex issues verbally and in writing

  • Above-average communication and presentation skills

  • Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist certification is a plus

  • Ability to travel to out of state facilities periodically
