We are currently seeking an Engineer I for our Carlsbad, New Mexico location. The Engineer I will use the Capital Project Management process to accurately schedule, budget and monitor projects. Provide general engineering services.
What will you do?
Ensure regulatory, corporate and site safety standards are followed through the implementation of safety and continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to achieve results in alignment with mission objectives. This includes workplace behavior observations, risk assessment, incident investigation and corrective action and cause mapping/RCFA for system improvement
Short and long-term planning, scheduling/tracking and execution of design and procurement activities
Collaborate with production and maintenance personnel in order to provide timely engineering department response to planning directives
Enable implementation or incorporation of engineering processes into operations
Lead and manage Design and Improvement Groups
Design - turning research ideas into technical plans using computer aided design (CAD) and computer modeling programs. Research and Development - assessing new products and innovations
Use of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)/Cause Mapping and other initiatives in design changes to correct/improve production output
What do you need for this role?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical required
0-2 years of experience in heavy industrial maintenance, reliability or operations. Co-op experience is preferred Engineer II
2+ years of related experience. (related experience may consist of engineering, industrial project experience, or engineering project management) Engineer III
5+ years of related experience. (related experience may consist of engineering, industrial project experience, or engineering project management) Engineer Sr
10+ years or more of related experience. (related experience may consist of engineering, industrial project experience, or engineering project management) Required for ALL Levels:
MS Office products, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project (or similar software) experience.
Excellent written and communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of management.
Must demonstrate ability to influence others; requires strong leadership qualities, and team building.
Manage and control project costs and schedule by ensuring that effective project controls are in place and functioning properly.
Providing coordination between design, procurement, and/or construction for integration of technical content and schedule activities. Preferred for ALL Levels:
SAP/Maximo application experience
Industrial chemical plant or mining facility project management experience
PE, PMI certification
Physical work environment is frequently outdoors and exposed to varying temperatures from below 32 degrees to above 85 degrees Fahrenheit
