The Mosaic Company S&L Operator in Carlsbad, New Mexico

Are you our next S&L Operator?

We are currently seeking an S&L Operator for our Carlsbad, New Mexico location. The S&L Operator will perform bulk loading of rail cars and trucks, general clean-up, assist co-workers and perform duties as assigned.

What will you do?

  • These duties include operating process control equipment (using PLC Controls-RS View and Panel View, start & stop equipment, monitor and adjust oil & feed rates, weigh cars and input car #’s along with tare weight) to maximize product quality with minimum loss

  • calculate process requirements and record data from various sources

  • inspect equipment for proper mechanical and process operation to correct problems and maintain maximum plant efficiency

  • communicate and coordinate activities with co-workers and supervisors

  • The candidate must be willing and able to successfully complete all phases of Storage and Loading Training programs

What do you need for this role?

  • High School Diploma/Trade School/GED required

  • This position requires a candidate with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience operating heavy equipment

  • Candidate must be able to follow instruction, analyze, monitor and learn new processes and procedures

  • Must be able to read, write, and should have a good understanding of basic mathematics

  • Must demonstrate skills in planning, scheduling and exercising independent judgment/decision making

  • Must be able to use the necessary equipment and tools to perform the job duties

  • Candidate must be capable of operating front-end loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, shuttle wagon, and rail car tuggers

  • Candidate must be capable of performing general housekeeping duties.

  • Candidate must have basic knowledge of storage and loading process and equipment and must clearly articulate an understanding of process interactions, capabilities and constraints. Must be a self-starter, and work with minimum supervision

  • The candidate must be capable of identifying and correcting problems and demonstrate a willingness to accept responsibility through initiative

  • Must have a valid drivers license.

  • Must have a record of good attendance and demonstrate dependability

Physical work environment is frequently outdoors and exposed to varying temperatures from below 32 degrees to above 85 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Must be able to safely perform the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others

  • Able to lift 50+ lbs. unassisted and regularly

  • Frequent stooping, bending, walking, climbing, etc.

  • Must be capable of working on roofs, in scale pits, on top of truck bins, on top of rail cars, on moving rail cars while wearing fall protection

  • Must wear all personal protective equipment and follow all safety rules and regulations in accomplishing the job functions. Candidate is also responsible for encouraging crew members’ compliance with all safety rules and regulations. Work record must reflect a high regard for and commitment to safety.

  • Must be Authorized to work in the United States.
