We are currently seeking a Mill Automation Engineer Lead at our Esterhazy, K1 SK location. The Mill Automation Engineer Lead is responsible for building the project execution team and managing the automation program for the mills at the Esterhazy operations. Reporting to the Automation Manager, this position provides leadership and guidance to the Mill Automation Team to ensure the project portfolio is developed, executed, and commissioned successfully. The Mill Automation Engineer Lead will be a key link between the Automation Team and Operations Management to ensure goals are aligned and project progress is being maintained through effective communications and established relationships.

What will you be working on?

  • Build a technical team composed of the right skill sets for determining creative solutions and successfully executing automation projects. Work with operations, and other Tech Services departments to establish the project portfolios for the various aspects of the overall Mill Automation project program. Update and revise the portfolio as the automation systems are developed and proven

  • Ensure safety is a primary focus of the design, implementation, and commissioning stages of all automation projects. Provide leadership in ensuring Mosaic safety policies and procedures and known, understood, and followed by all employees, contractors, and consultants involved in automation projects

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to employees of varying disciplines and backgrounds with the aim of successful project execution through collaborative teamwork efforts. Through technical leadership ensure sound engineering principles are followed and utilized through the design process

  • Prepare both annual and project based budgets to facilitate the efficient execution of the Mill Automation project program. Oversee the project management aspects of running a successful automation program including leading the development of project estimates and schedules while employing the Mosaic Capital Management Process and Management of Change systems

  • Provide regular updates and reports on project progress and developments. Work closely with operations to mitigate and remove roadblocks that may arise during the course of project execution. Resolve conflicts in a timely manner

What is required for this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree Engineering required – Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Systems, Chemical or related discipline

  • P.Eng required

  • 8-10 years experience in an industrial operating environment

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams to solve complex challenges is essential

  • Project management experience is strongly preferred

  • Experience leading or participating in research and development projects would be an asset

  • Working knowledge of Maximo, SAP, or other project management software

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are required for the position

  • Employment is subject to successfully completing Mosaic's pre-employment checks including criminal, drug and alcohol testing

  • Must be authorized to work in Canada
