The Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis will provide direct support to and leadership within the global business planning function, primarily in the design, planning, execution and communication of business long-range and capital expenditure planning processes. In addition, the role will lead work-streams in support of enterprise performance management (EPM), partner with Treasury to facilitate Rating Agency updates, and play an integral role in preparing Board of Director and Investor Relations materials and presentations. The role will require significant interface with senior leaders, Business Unit and Support Group management.
What will you do?
Lead the day-to-day activities of the long-range business planning process, which is closely linked to Business Development and Market and Strategic Analysis and integrates business unit and functional planning. Provide direction on key assumptions and coordinate and maintain connections/synergies across all Operations and Functional groups. Provide oversight for long-range planning and cost saving targets. Lead and support assigned strategic planning initiatives and integration with business planning process. Work with Market Analysis & Business Development and the SLT on long term planning routines (e.g. quarterly business reviews).
Leadership of the long-range business planning will include the design, planning, execution and communication, which includes, but is not limited to, global business planning process calendars for Mosaic, significant meetings with Mosaic leadership in preparation of processes / sub-processes and templates, coordination of numerous meetings across multiple functions and BUs to facilitate an effective business planning process and scenario planning. Lead the change management process for senior leaders to mid-level management to execute an evolving business planning process.
Lead the global capital expenditure planning process, including the monthly meetings of the Capital Expenditure Planning Committee (comprised of the CFO, SVP - Phosphates, SVP – Potash, SVP – Commercial, and SVP – Finance).
Lead and/or support work-streams within Mosaic’s enterprise performance management (EPM) initiatives, including KPI development, report rationalization, information governance and improved BI (business intelligence) reporting. Significant change management will be required across Mosaic to drive benefits from EPM
Partner with Treasury to facilitate Rating Agency updates. Lead the analysis and development of materials that provide a summarized view of internal forecasts (including the five-year outlook), metrics and balance sheet metrics by working closely with Treasury, Market Analysis, Investor Relations and Mosaic Business Units.
Provide direction to help drive analysis to identify appropriate expectations, identifying potential operating issues for communication internally and externally and to improve the forecasting and guidance process. Provide strong financial analysis expertise to help set appropriate guidance to manage investor expectations relative to internal forecasts.
Play an integral role in the preparation of Board of Director and Investor Relations materials and presentations. Support update/revision of senior management routines (i.e. leadership and committee meetings) and potentially, in planning, setting and communicating the agenda of SWG meetings; covering all strategy / planning topics. Other job duties and projects as assigned.
Support acquisition/ integration efforts as needed (percentage of time allocated could fluctuate with business needs). Other job duties and projects as assigned.
Provide mentoring and coaching to junior team members on reporting, modeling, process improvement and metric development.
What do you need for this role?
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Economics
8+ years of financial analysis experience
Experience with financial modeling, discounted cash flow modeling, budgeting and forecasting
Experience in the financial planning and analysis area of an international chemical manufacturing and/or mining company is a definite plus; however, any product-based experience in a similarly scaled entity is acceptable
Experience with valuation techniques (DCF and multiples) strongly preferred
Strong understanding of financial management and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Process improvement oriented, and cost management focused
Experience working on multiple projects / cross functional initiatives
CPA or CMA preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with strong Excel and Access skills
Experience/knowledge of SAP or other ERP system & BI (business intelligence) tools preferred
Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills
Strong interpersonal and team building skills
Demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to effectively work and build partnerships with employees at all levels within the organization, including Mosaic senior leadership team
